Volunteer Opportunties

Volunteer opportunities include:

Shift Volunteer

Purpose: To assist staff in keeping RMH running smoothly and in working order.

Duties: Answering phones, greeting people at the door, checking in and checking out guests, giving tours to incoming guests and visitors, light housekeeping, and help with the day-to-day tasks.

Purpose: Assume duties and responsibilities of covering RMH while staff is off-duty.

Duties: Answering phones, greeting people at the door, checking in and checking out guests, giving tours to incoming guests and visitors, and overseeing weekend volunteers.

Errand Runners
Individuals are needed to run errands such as picking up stamps, donated food or other items.

Fundraising
Would you or your group like to hold a fundraiser to benefit RMH? Hold a bake sale, collect items from the wish list, bottle drives, yard sales or any other event. Please contact the Executive Director.

Gardeners
Individuals are needed to help with the garden, which is a peaceful getaway for many of the guests. Gardens need to be raked, weeded and generally maintained.

Guest Chefs
Provide a home-cooked meal for the families staying at RMH. Meals can be cooked in the double kitchen or dropped off for volunteers to heat and serve. This is a lot of fun and good for team buliding; it can make volunteering a family or group activity.

House Cleaning
Many groups or individuals assist in house cleaning, such as dusting, vacuuming and cleaning bathrooms as well as washing windows and sweeping the garage floor. We rely on volunteers to keep the House that love built clean. Many of our guests have weakened immune systems, so it's very important for the House to be especially clean at all times. Some volunteers visit once a year, others more frequently. This is also a great team building exercise.

Quilters & Knitters
Each of the newborns goes home with a new baby quilt or afghan made by volunteers. Also, knitted sweaters, booties and hat sets are a favorite with the families.

Adopt a Holiday
Come to RMH and decorate for a holiday. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chanuukah, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Independence Day, Kwanzaa or any other special holiday.

Special Projects
Painting, snow shoveling, bulk mailing, heavy cleaning, or other special projects can come up from time to time and help in these areas is very much appreciated.
